After an argument, Dog is determined to prove to Cat that he can make it on his own. He leaves their house and goes to the big city where he lands a job in a sweatshop. Meanwhile, Cat starts to feel lonely without Dog.

- There is a song from SpongeBob SquarePants which shares almost the same name as this episode, titled "Gary Come Home".
- At the end of the episode where Winslow is running on the conveyor belt, he says "Jane, get me off this crazy thing!", which is a reference to The Jetsons.
- A similar plot from this episode would later be used in the Brandy & Mr. Whiskers episode, "The Howler Bunny".
